Consultus Care and Nursing has been one of the leading providers of exceptional live-in carers and nurses for over 60 years via its choice of three services : Family Managed Care, Consultus Managed Care, and Consultus Managed Nursing.
The delivery every day of this family owned and run care agency for families reflects the maxim of its founder : the late Mrs Anne Stevens who always knew that : “People just feel better at home”.
Consultus offers families freedom of choice, and the enhanced independence and the familiarity of home. Live-in care and nursing are reassuring and comforting alternatives to that available in otherwise good care or nursing homes, as well as being much less disruptive than unpredictable as social services care or certainly community care and hospital stays.
We deliver outstanding live-in care and nursing services which provide clients with relief, assistance and peace of mind, as well as providing their family and friends with the highest levels of reassurance and support.
Consultus looks after the elderly, as well as the chronically and terminally ill. Today, our live-in carers and live-in nurses maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of many hundreds of people, keeping alive their dreams of living as independently as possible in the security of their own homes, surrounded by their possessions, memories, and the people they love.
Over the years, providing live-in carers and live-in nurses has become our specialism. Consultus have helped hundreds of people the length and breadth of the UK to live in peace and comfort in their own homes. This bespoke service is unique and is a wonderful alternative to a regimented care home or a hospital. A live-in carer or live-in nurse brings a huge amount of benefits to a cherished family member. Our clients feel secure in the knowledge that care is on hand at all times, and a friendly face is there to work with them to ensure they live each day to the full.
This family owned and run business continues to operate with the same ethos that was initiated by our Founder from the outset over 60 years ago. Caring for the elderly and vulnerable is a gift for all who work for Consultus Care & Nursing, and we will continue to raise the benchmark for live-in care and live-in nursing as realistic and affordable options for anybody who needs our help.

Case Study
Mr K received immunotherapy treatment for cancer which caused neurotoxicity affecting his spine and brain. He experienced Ataxia, affecting co-ordination, balance, and speech, and his mental health declined due to this huge life change.
Our nurse was engaged from August 2023 when he was discharged from hospital and needed help eating and drinking due to poor hand grip and co-ordination. He had a urinary catheter as he was unable to pass urine independently, and was using a Sara Steady to transfer from his bed to a wheelchair. He was only able to have a bed bath or basin wash.
With a small team of nurses who diligently followed the physiotherapist rehabilitation plan, he made steady progress. The nurses’ understanding of his condition and tireless encouragement helped him regain independence and improve his mental health and acceptance of his changing condition.
Today, Mr K is walking independently, able to shower with minimal supervision and urinating independently without a catheter. He and his wife were thrilled to travel with our nurse for a short break to Cornwall at Easter. Due to the success of this trip and his ongoing recovery, they have booked a cruise of the British Isles later in the year.
